What to do

Walk to the shepherds settlement and learn about the shepherds’ life, taste their dairy products and admire the unique architecture of cottages defining Velika Planina.
The settlement is revived in June when the huts are settled by shepherds who remain with their livestock until September. They are happy to invite you to taste their homemade dairy delicacies or their traditional meal - sour milk and buckwheat/corn "žganci" (shredded spoon bread).
For those looking for something more challenging, Velika Planina offers a wide range of walks. The routes range from easy circular walks around the plateau to challenging mountain hikes. Some of the walks can also be ridden on mountain bikes. At the end of the day, you can relax in the sauna or soak in the hot tub.

In winter, Velika Planina is covered with a magical blanket of sparkling white snow offering many opportunities for winter joys. You can try snowshoeing - put on snowshoes and go exploring some of the most beautiful corners, peaceful and covered with an untouched snow cover.
The skiable terrain ranges from 1,400 to 1,666 m above sea level with about 6 km of slopes, most of which are not demanding. For many years the plateau has been known as a very popular family ski centre due to its gentle terrain. There is also a sledding track, offering day and night entertainment for the whole family.

Why not enjoy long walks and then relax in the sauna or soak in the hot tub?
